From: GAINCO@aol.com Subject: PFC Frederick R. Balch 376th inf., Company F
The pillbox was taken by the Germans and Fred was wounded and taken to a hospital at St. Wendel, where he died from his wounds. His brother would like to contact anyone who was with him either in the pillbox or at the hospital. The only name listed in the division history who was in the pillbox was a First Sgt. Bower from Oswego, New York. He would appreciate any info available concerning Fred. Contact F. H. Balch at FredHBalch@equilon.com or 314-993-6468 |

Subject: 94th 301st I am the great niece of a man who was named Burnett J. Schulz (BJ). He was from Bay City, TX, and was a sargeant during the war. Sadly, he has passed away, and perhaps just as sad, the only person he ever much talked about the war to was my father (who has also passed). I know that BJ was captured by the Germans during the Ardennes. I have his POW card. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who knew my uncle, anyone else who was captured who would care to share their experiences. I do remember one thing that he told me-- he said as they were marching, the villagers would give them rutabegas-- thats all he said they ate for a very long time - rutabegas, and he said he'd never eat them again and he didn't! Thank you so much, Jill Essbaum

Subject: 302nd Co. F I just got my father to loan me his copy of "ON THE WAY - The Story of the 94th Infantry Division" This has a statement PASSED BY CENSOR FOR MAILING HOME. Although the cover has finally fallen apart, and it has been used as a reference for history reports for two generations of grade school and high school students in the family { I remember having to take the booklet to school to prove that my report was based on fact} this booklet is in excellent shape. On the back cover are signatures of a couple of people that I'm curious aboput--- S/Sgt Charles O. Massmore (my interpretation of the writing could be off); S/Sgt. Jack W. Robinson Covington, Kentucky and Sgt. Carl T. Segalt (undecipherable city) Indiana. Anyone know anything about these people? My father wanted me to ask if there
are any guys from F Company 302nd. He is Clinton Bland. Please reply
to me and I will pass information along to him.
