From: "Wilma Bland" I have come across one of Dad's unusual photos from his days with the 302nd in Germany I believe although there is no indication on the photo. It is a group of soldiers with one doing an Adolph Hitler impersonation. I am
curious about who the photographer was, as there are several small photos with this standing out as a bit of humor in midst of it all. I believe this same photographer did all of the photos in my possession from F Co. 302nd. One of Dad has a thumb or finger print that was obviously on the negative from a hasty develop and print job. Any ideas would be helpful. |

From: Ohlin Robert G TSgt 30CS/SCSSC Subject: Lampaden, Germany Date: Wed, 22 Dec 1999 Hello! I am trying to get personal recollections of the fighting around Lampaden, Germany, in March 1945. I understand the 94th overran the area, including the ridge and valley east of the village. This ridge was the launching site for what the Germans called the "V-3", a pair of 164-foot artillery pieces, which were fixed to the hillside. They were used to fire artillery on Luxemburg City during the Battle of the Bulge. When
I visited the site, I was able to locate the support bunkers, which
are now buried
beneath earth and overgrowth. The
few writings that describe the site state that the weapons were abandoned prior
to the arrival of the 94th, but I would like to know if anyone remembers
that location. |
